The cable car system to the Monastery of the Temptation is a transport facility that rises from Jericho up to the clifftop monastery, carrying visitors across an elevation gain of about 180 meters (590 feet). The cable car was installed in 1998 and transformed access to a monastery built in the 6th century. This system made the religious site far more reachable after visitors had previously faced a grueling steep climb.
