Haller Mansion, Renaissance castle in Sânpaul, Romania.
Haller Mansion is a Renaissance castle in Sânpaul with a U-shaped layout where arched corridors and a central pavilion frame the courtyard. The structure uses stone salvaged from earlier buildings that once occupied the site.
The Haller family from Nürnberg started construction in 1610 using stone from earlier ruins on the site. The building was completed under János leadership in 1674, spanning nearly a century of development.
The name reflects the family who shaped this place over centuries. Visitors can still sense how the grounds and their design expressed the lifestyle of Transylvanian nobility.
The property operates as a hotel with 14 rooms, including one apartment, a restaurant for 120 guests, and event spaces. Visitors should book ahead if they plan to stay overnight or dine at the on-site restaurant.
The basement holds an old wine cellar with space for around 100 people, where visitors can sense the historical storage culture. Most surprising is a natural thermal spring with salt water that flows directly from a borehole in the courtyard.
