Belgrade Military Museum

The Belgrade Military Museum is a collection of military objects spanning from ancient times to the modern era, housed within Kalemegdan Park. The exhibits fill a single long hall and range from Roman swords and Greek helmets to Serbian knight armor and weapons from different historical periods.

The museum was founded in 1878 and documents weapons and armor from Roman times through the 20th century. It preserves pieces that represent the military history of the region across more than two thousand years.

The exhibition texts appear in Serbian Cyrillic and Latin scripts alongside English translations, showing how the region accommodates multiple audiences. This layering of languages reflects the diverse communities that have shaped the area over time.

The museum sits within Kalemegdan Park near central Belgrade and is easy to reach on foot. Decommissioned tanks and artillery pieces are arranged along the entrance paths, giving visitors an overview of what lies inside.

The collection includes wreckage from a US F-117 stealth bomber shot down in 1999 during military operations in the region. These remains stand as a physical reminder of a significant moment in the area's recent past.
