Banja Koviljača, village in Serbia
Banja Koviljača is a spa village in Loznica, western Serbia, built around natural mineral springs with known therapeutic properties. The area consists of bathing facilities, hotels, and green parkland arranged along the valley floor.
The site began to grow as a formal health resort in the 19th century, when Serbian authorities recognized the springs and began developing the area. Over the following decades, hotels and bathing facilities were built, shaping the village into what it looks like today.
The name Koviljača comes from a wild plant that once grew in the area around the springs. The daily rhythm of the village revolves around the baths, and it is common to see people gathering there in the morning as part of a regular routine.
The village is easy to walk around, as the main facilities are close together on mostly flat ground. Those planning to use the bathing areas should bring a towel and water sandals, since the surfaces near the springs tend to stay wet.
Banja Koviljača was a favored retreat of the Yugoslav royal family during the interwar period, who spent time here regularly. Some of the buildings from that era are still standing in the village today.
