Bor Lake, lake in Serbia
Bor Lake is an artificial reservoir in Serbia's Bor District, created in 1959 when a dam was built on the rivers Valja Dzoni, Marec, and part of Zlot to support local mining operations. The roughly 30-hectare body of water is ringed by forests and offers two beaches, one hotel, and a camping facility for visitors.
The lake was created in 1959 to support mining and metal processing operations for the local company RTB Bor, which has operated in the region for many decades. Its construction marked a turning point in the area's industrial development and made it a visual reminder of this industrial past.
The lake takes its name from the nearby town of Bor and reflects the region's mining heritage, which shaped local life for generations. Today it serves as a gathering place where residents and visitors enjoy water activities and forest walks in a setting that balances industrial history with natural surroundings.
The lake is less than 20 kilometers from the town of Bor and easily reached via the main road to Žagubica, which passes by the water. The area is best visited during warmer months when water temperatures invite swimming and forest walks are comfortable throughout the day.
During winter months, the nearby Crni Vrh mountain offers skiing opportunities, transforming the region into a winter sports destination beyond just water activities. This versatility makes the area appealing across all seasons for different types of outdoor pursuits.
