Nevinnomyssk, Industrial city in Stavropol Krai, Russia
Nevinnomyssk sits at the meeting point of the Kuban River and the Bolshoy Zelenchuk River in southwestern Stavropol Krai. The settlement spreads across both riverbanks in a flat plain, surrounded by open fields and industrial facilities that mark the outer edges of town.
The settlement began in 1825 as a Cossack village beside a frontier control post on the Kuban. After a century as a trading hub for farm produce, chemical factories arrived in the 1960s and reshaped the local economy and landscape.
The city maintains several educational institutions, including the Gorky Palace of Culture and the Nevinnomyssk Museum of Local History, which opened its doors in 1957.
The town has a large railway station with regional connections and regular bus routes across the built-up area. A long overpass crosses several rail tracks and links residential areas to the industrial zones.
In December 2019, more than 4500 residents held a plank position at the same moment and set a world record together. The attempt took place in a central square and drew participants from all parts of town.
