Novotroitskoe Reservoir, reservoir in Russia
Novotroitskoe Reservoir is a man-made lake in Izobilnensky District, Stavropol Krai, formed by a dam on the Bolshoy Egorlyk River. It is wide and relatively shallow on average, though some spots reach greater depths toward the dam.
The reservoir was built in 1952 by damming the Bolshoy Egorlyk River, primarily to supply water to local settlements and support agriculture in a drought-prone region. Over the following decades it also became a place for fishing and outdoor recreation.
The reservoir serves as a vital water source for surrounding communities and has become a gathering place for local fishermen and visitors seeking outdoor time. Nearby villages depend on this body of water for irrigation and livestock, making it central to daily life in the region.
The shores are easy to reach and some areas are set up for swimming and fishing. Visiting in the early morning is a good idea for those who want to fish, as weekends in warm months tend to draw more people.
At a spot known as Goryachka, warmer water flows into the lake, raising the oxygen level and drawing fish to concentrate there in larger numbers than elsewhere. Experienced anglers know this spot well and seek it out specifically.
