Kolomenskaya, Metro station in Nagatino-Sadovniki District, Moscow, Russia.
Kolomenskaya is an underground metro station on the Zamoskvoretskaya line, located in the Nagatino-Sadovniki District of Moscow. The platform is flanked by two parallel rows of octagonal columns clad in yellow ceramic tiles, with tiled walls running along the tracks.
The station opened on August 11, 1969, as part of an extension of the Zamoskvoretskaya line southward. It was the 86th station to join the Moscow metro network.
Copper embossed panels along the platform walls show lions, mermaids, and firebirds drawn from Russian folk imagery. These decorations date from the Soviet era and remain a visible part of the station's everyday character.
The station connects to several bus and tram routes in the surrounding area, making it a useful stop for reaching nearby neighborhoods. Exits lead directly to street level without long corridors.
Between November 2022 and May 2023, the station went through a full renovation that replaced the column cladding and track walls. The original design was kept intact throughout the works.
