Памятник Георгию Жукову, Military monument in Stary Oskol, Russia.
The Georgy Zhukov memorial in Stary Oskol is a bronze bust of the marshal in a tunic with four Gold Star medals, mounted on a fluted metal column that rises from a rectangular stone stylobate. Two lines of raised Cyrillic lettering are fixed to the column's front, and flowers are often placed at its foot.
The memorial was erected in 1988 to honor Marshal Zhukov's strategic role in Soviet victories during major World War II battles. Its creation at that time reflects the continued recognition of his military importance to Soviet history.
The monument serves as a gathering place for local commemorations, especially on Victory Day on May 9, when residents come together to honor major wartime events. The ceremonies and gatherings here show how deeply the city maintains this historical memory in its daily life.
The memorial is easily reached from the city center and is served by regular bus routes that stop near the site. The location is openly accessible and walkable for visitors, with clear orientation within the downtown area.
The bust was cast in 1973 at a stone-working plant in Kyiv, fifteen years before the monument was unveiled in 1988, which makes it the world's first monument to Marshal Zhukov. The column and stylobate were made by Stary Oskol's Mekhzavod and OZMM works.
