Kirov Park, Izhevsk, Public park in Oktyabr'skiy Rayon, Izhevsk, Russia
Kirov Park is a green space set in a forested area near a city reservoir with pine trees, walking trails, and several ponds. The grounds feature more than 20 different attractions, a zoo with about 80 animal species, and areas for seasonal activities like ice skating and cycling.
The grounds were founded in 1933 by factory workers from the city and received its current name two years later to honor Soviet statesman Sergey Kirov. This naming marked an important moment in the park's early development.
The park serves as a venue where residents gather for performances and festivals throughout the year. A dedicated Green Theater in the center functions as the main gathering point for entertainment and community activities.
Visitors can choose from various activities depending on the season and personal interest, though some attractions may operate only during specific times of year. With more than 20 facilities spread across the grounds, it is best to allow plenty of time for exploration and to visit on weekends or holidays when the park is most active.
Since 2023, the grounds feature a dinosaur park with about 70 replicas of prehistoric creatures from different time periods spread across roughly 28 themed zones. This was the first attraction of its kind in the Udmurtia region.
