Khrushchev-Seleznev Estate

The Khrushchev-Seleznev Estate is a classicist mansion with a symmetrical facade, classical columns, and fine moldings that reflect early nineteenth-century design. The building features carefully proportioned windows and detailed architectural elements that define its formal presence on the street.

Built between 1814 and 1816 by architect Afanasy Grigoriev, this mansion represents Moscow's residential architecture during the classicist period. It was constructed during a time when the city was rebuilding its architectural identity following the conflicts of the early nineteenth century.

The mansion now houses the Pushkin Museum, which focuses on Russian literature and art through different time periods and regularly organizes exhibitions. Visitors can explore rooms filled with collections that represent the country's cultural heritage.

The mansion is located at Prechistenka Street 12/2 and opens daily except Mondays with regular guided tours available throughout the day. Allow enough time to explore the interior spaces thoroughly, as there is much to see inside.

The mansion preserves its original interior layout from the 1810s, including a grand ceremonial staircase and interconnected reception halls furnished with period pieces. This arrangement allows visitors to experience how daily life unfolded in an elegant early nineteenth-century household.
