Սիզրանի գավառագիտական թանգարան, Regional history museum in Syzran, Russia.
The museum occupies two 19th-century merchant houses and displays geological, paleontological, and ethnographic collections arranged across multiple floors. The exhibits range from fossils and minerals to archaeological finds and items reflecting the everyday life of the region.
The institution was established in December 1923 from an agricultural exhibition and acquired valuable artifacts from noble estates of the Orlov-Davydov counts and Gagarin princes by 1925. This early collection formed the foundation of the museum as it exists today.
The ethnographic section displays traditional costumes worn by different ethnic communities in Samara Oblast, alongside exhibits showing weaving, pottery, and blacksmithing practices. These items reflect how local people lived and worked in their daily lives.
The museum is readily accessible and offers guided tours in Russian through two departments focusing on natural sciences and history-ethnography combined. Visitors should allow adequate time to explore both buildings and the various exhibition areas at a comfortable pace.
Two 17th-century cannons with distinctive historical dents stand at the entrance, their wheels and gun carriages cast at the local Syzran engineering works. These artillery pieces tell the story of the town's industrial heritage and metalworking skill.
