Capital Hill Residence, Private residence in Barvikha, Russia
Capital Hill Residence is a private house in Barvikha designed with flowing curves that define its modern appearance. The building rests on three concrete pillars and features extensive glazing that connects interior spaces with the surrounding forest landscape.
Construction began in 2006 and this house represents the only private residential project designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid. It offers a rare opportunity to see her signature design approach applied to a private home rather than public or commercial buildings.
The residence displays contemporary architectural forms with curved lines that define modern luxury homes in Russia. Its geometric elements blend naturally with the surrounding forest setting.
Since this is a private residence, public access to the interior is not available. You can appreciate the architecture from outside by viewing it from nearby roads and pathways in the surrounding area.
The house largely hovers above ground, supported by just three concrete columns that leave the area underneath open. A glass elevator and staircase nestle within these columns to connect the different levels.
