Vorontsovskaya, Metro station in Moscow, Russia.
Vorontsovskaya is a metro station in Moscow on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line, running underground with two parallel tracks through a tunnel. It has a direct interchange connection to the adjacent Kaluzhskaya station, linking it to another line of the Moscow metro network.
The station opened on December 7, 2021 as part of a new section of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line that extended the Moscow metro into the southern part of the city. It was designed by Aleksandr Vigdorov, following the modern architectural approach common to stations built in this period.
The station takes its name from Vorontsovsky Park, a green space historically tied to the aristocratic Vorontsov family estate. Leaving the station, visitors find themselves in a neighborhood that feels noticeably calmer than the dense center of Moscow.
Several bus lines stop near the station and connect to surrounding neighborhoods across the southern part of the city, making it easy to continue a journey from here. Vorontsovsky Park is within walking distance and worth combining with a visit to this part of Moscow.
The Bolshaya Koltsevaya line, which Vorontsovskaya belongs to, is one of the longest circular metro lines in the world, yet this station was among the last to open along its route. The area around the station still has a low-key feel, with the old Vorontsov estate grounds sitting just minutes away from the exit.
