Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo, Protected forest park in northwestern Moscow, Russia
Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo is a protected forest park in northwestern Moscow covering more than 200 hectares. The area features multiple lakes, winding trails, and deciduous woods crossed by the Moscow Canal.
The area has roots dating to medieval times when it was the village of Podjolki, later becoming an estate of the Streshnev family. This long connection shaped how the land developed and was used over the centuries.
The forest serves as a place where people come to observe and learn about local plant and animal life through nature-focused programs. The paths and lakes draw locals who simply want to spend time walking and watching the seasons change.
The park is accessible via Streshnevo metro station and Light Rail line 6, with parking near the main entrances. Multiple entry points allow visitors to choose different routes based on their interests and walking ability.
The forest has rolling terrain with natural elevation changes that create an effective natural drainage system. This sloped landscape allows multiple connected ponds to form naturally, giving the park much of its water character.
