Monument to heroes of World War I

The monument stands at the intersection of Karsnoarmeyskaya Street and Khalturinsky Lane in Rostov-on-Don and reaches 3.5 meters tall. Bronze sculptures make up this memorial dedicated to military service members during World War I.

The memorial was established in 2014 to commemorate one hundred years after Russia's entry into World War I and remember soldiers of the Russian Imperial Army. This creation reflected a renewed focus on a conflict that had faded from public attention.

The monument was designed by Sergey Mikhailovich Isakov and represents the public recognition of those who served in World War I. The bronze figures displayed here show how much this conflict matters to the community.

The memorial sits at a central intersection in the city and is easy to reach on foot from most areas. Visitors should know that this is an outdoor location with no shelter, so weather conditions matter for your visit.

The design was chosen from three competing proposals submitted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Rostov region. This selection process meant the memorial had strong support from local business leaders.
