The building of of tobacco factory of Aslanidi brothers
The building of of tobacco factory of Aslanidi brothers, Industrial heritage building in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.
The Aslanidi brothers tobacco factory is a rectangular industrial building in Rostov-on-Don with clear geometric lines and typical features of late nineteenth-century architecture. The exterior preserves original structural elements along with decorative details that were added during renovations.
The structure originally began as Kushnaryov Tobacco Factory in the 1880s and underwent extensive renovation after merging with the Aslanidi Brothers enterprise in 1914. These changes reflected a shift in ownership and the growing scale of tobacco manufacturing in the city.
The building demonstrates how tobacco manufacturing shaped the economy and daily life of Rostov-on-Don during the industrial boom. You can still see the solid craftsmanship and materials that workers valued when it operated as a factory.
The building stands centrally in Rostov-on-Don and is accessible from various points in the city. Guided tours through local heritage organizations offer visitors a deeper look at the architecture and industrial history on-site.
The building was designed by Armenian architect Arutyun Khristoforovich Zakiev, who incorporated Empire style elements when renovating the factory in 1914. This uncommon blend of industrial function and classical decoration makes the facade particularly noteworthy.
