The Shakhty Museum of local lore

The museum occupies a nineteenth-century building with five exhibition halls showcasing objects and documents that trace the region's history. The collections include archaeological discoveries, military equipment, and personal items spanning different periods.

The museum was established in 1966 and opened to the public in 1967 to preserve the region's heritage. A significant collection arrived in 2015 after a fire destroyed another facility, expanding what the museum could show visitors.

The displays feature everyday objects from the region, including tools, clothing, and household items that reflect how people lived across generations. Visitors can understand how crafts, mining, and agriculture shaped the community.

Two entire halls focus on the Second World War with weapons, uniforms, and personal items belonging to soldiers who served in the region. This extensive collection offers direct insight into the lives of fighters during that period.
