The Shakhty Museum of local lore

The Shakhty Museum of Local Lore contains five exhibition halls displaying military artifacts, historical documents, and regional ethnographic collections within a nineteenth-century building.

Founded in 1966 and opened in May 1967, the museum preserves items from the coal industry after receiving a collection transfer from a burned facility in 2015.

The exhibition halls present local traditions through archaeological findings, military equipment, and personal objects that belonged to soldiers from the Great Patriotic War.

Located at 149 Shevchenko Street in central Shakhty, the museum maintains collections documenting the development of the Rostov Region through photographs and historical items.

Two dedicated halls contain an extensive collection of World War II artifacts, including weapons, military equipment, and personal belongings of soldiers who served in combat.
