Ural Aluminum Smelter Proletarian's Group of Houses, комплекс жилых зданий в городе Каменск-Уральский, Свердловской области России
The Ural Aluminum Smelter Proletarian's Group of Houses is a residential building complex in Kamensk-Uralsky consisting of four five-story structures built in the constructivist style. The buildings are made of brick and concrete with geometric decorations carved into the facades and balconies built into the design.
The complex was built in 1937 as part of Soviet efforts to improve living conditions for factory workers. It emerged from planning begun in 1934 that aimed to create a worker community near the aluminum plant with housing for approximately 20,000 people.
The complex reflects how early Soviet ideology valued functionality and community order in residential spaces. The geometric decorations on the facades and the organized layout show how the design aimed to create a structured environment where workers and families could live together.
The complex is accessible via several streets including Aluminievaya, Isetskaya, Kamenskaya, and Stroiteli that run through the district. The buildings have open courtyards and shared spaces that invite walking and exploration of the layout.
The buildings are slightly offset at their ends, creating interesting angles and sightlines within the courtyards. This carefully planned arrangement was intended to foster a sense of community among residents.
