Муллин йорты, Heritage building in Old Tatar Settlement, Kazan, Russia
Mullin House is a timber-frame building set on a high brick foundation in Kazan, with carved ornaments and traditional window casings throughout its exterior. The complex also contains a tea gallery, coffee shop, and hostel, creating a multipurpose space that combines residential and public functions.
The building was constructed in the 1870s by sugar merchant Burganutdin Mullina as a residence for his wealthy family. A fire in 2008 caused significant damage, but restoration work completed in 2013 returned it to public use as a cultural center.
The site displays how wealthy Tatar families furnished their homes and organized daily tasks through preserved objects and room arrangements. You get a sense of local craftsmanship and the social customs that shaped domestic life in this community.
The site offers easy access to multiple areas including the main house and courtyard spaces that you can explore at your own pace. You will find well-marked sections showing different parts of daily life, from the kitchen to storage areas.
The courtyard has been reconstructed with authentic details from the 1800s, including a working well, beehives, and a livestock pen. This recreation lets you step directly into the working space that supported the household beyond just the main rooms.
