The Khryashchev-Vargin Revenue House displays classical Russian architecture with arched windows and decorative lion masks on its three-story limestone facade.
Built in 1760, the building underwent substantial reconstruction in the 1890s under architect R.I. Klein, following M.F. Kazakov's initial design from the 1780s.
The structure represents a typical Moscow revenue house, where upper floors provided housing for merchants while lower levels contained their commercial establishments.
Located at 12 Ilyinka Street, the building now houses the Russian State Archive and State Archive of Contemporary History, open for research purposes.
The building features a distinctive relief frieze above the third floor, incorporating specialized masonry techniques from the late 19th century.
