Gate Church, Orthodox church in Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The Gate Church features a neoclassical design with Doric pilasters, a low dome, and ornate decorative elements across its white exterior walls.
The church construction began in 1784 under architect Ivan Starov and reached completion in 1786 as part of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery entrance project.
The interior houses a collection of religious icons transferred from Prince Grigory Potemkin's private chapel, representing Russian Orthodox artistic traditions.
The church holds regular Divine Liturgies and welcomes visitors through its entrance from Nevsky Prospect, with services conducted in Russian language.
From 1904 to 1918, the church maintained a Latvian parish, allowing religious ceremonies to be conducted in Latvian within its sacred walls.
