The Vyborg Pedagogical Institute is a three-story stone structure on Vyborgskaya Street displaying pointed arch windows and ornamental facade details. The walls feature decorative motifs, intricate stonework, and design elements that create visual interest across its entire surface.
Architect Waldemar Aspelin designed this school building in 1897 when Gothic Revival architecture was gaining influence in Russian institutions. Construction occurred during a period when Vyborg was under Finnish control, and such buildings reflected growing Western European architectural influence in the region.
The building blends Western European design traditions with Russian construction practices, reflecting how schools of that era merged architectural languages. Walking past it, you see how different building styles coexisted in one structure.
