Rowing Canal, خزان مائي في بارناول، روسيا
The Rowing Canal is a water sports facility in Barnaul stretching approximately 1850 meters long and 110 meters wide. The water flows swiftly through the canal, which reaches depths of about 16 meters, creating favorable conditions for training and competitive rowing events.
The canal was created in 1984 through the efforts of two-time world champion Konstantin Kostenko, who envisioned a training and competition venue for rowing athletes. Since its establishment, it has developed into a major regional sports center hosting significant international events.
The canal is located on the right bank of the Ob River, behind an old railway bridge, and is easily accessible by car or public transport. The facility remains open year-round with well-maintained paths and training opportunities for visitors.
The water benefits from exceptionally favorable wind conditions that blow from a consistent direction, helping rowers maintain stability and speed during training. These natural factors, combined with the swift water current, make the canal particularly popular with international athletes preparing for Olympic competition.
