Arbuzov Museum, History museum in Kazan, Russia
The Arbuzov Museum occupies the residential house where two generations of chemists made their discoveries. The rooms contain glass flasks, distillation apparatus, and private items from the family.
Alexander Arbuzov set up his research laboratory here in 1916 and worked on organic phosphorus compounds for more than five decades until his death. His son Boris continued the research in the same rooms.
The house shows how a Russian family of chemists worked through preserved laboratory furniture and handwritten research notes spanning several decades. Visitors see the rooms arranged as the scientists used them daily.
The entrance is on Karl Marx Street in a residential district east of the city center. The museum opens on weekday mornings and early afternoons and offers guided tours.
A small workshop in the building still holds the glass-blowing tools used to make custom test tubes and flasks. The methods date from a time when researchers designed their own equipment.
