Sjösås gamla kyrka

The stone church features Gothic architecture with interior decorations and furnishings dating from the eighteenth century, representing traditional Swedish ecclesiastical design.

Built during medieval times, the church was temporarily abandoned in 1865 when a new church was constructed, but regained importance after Braås railway station opened.

The cemetery surrounding the church contains numerous iron crosses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, including an ornate wrought iron memorial from 1779.

Located at Sjösåsvägen 48 in Braås, the church opens daily from 9:00 to 15:00 and offers services for baptisms and weddings through the parish office.

The church stands next to Lake Örken, surrounded by coniferous forests, with a bell tower constructed in 1931 based on the eighteenth-century design from Granhult.
