Svenska Ords skrivstuga, Historical writing cabin in Södermalm, Sweden.
Svenska Ords skrivstuga is a wooden house in Södermalm built on a natural stone foundation, located near Sofia Church at Renstiernas gata 39. The structure displays architectural features from the 1700s and has been partially modified over time.
The building originated in the 18th century but underwent significant changes during the 1930s when Renstiernas gata was expanded. Only the eastern portion of the original structure survived these modifications.
This building served as a workspace where creative professionals gathered to develop comedy material for Swedish audiences. The name reflects its purpose as a working studio rather than a museum or monument.
The property is privately managed by AB Stadsholmen, so visitors can view the building from outside but cannot enter. The Stockholm City Museum has recognized it as historically important and included it in their records.
The property became the office of Aktiebolaget Svenska Ord starting in 1961, serving as the birthplace of many Swedish comedy scripts. Two renowned writers, Hans Alfredson and Tage Danielsson, worked here regularly to create material for audiences.
