Magnus Stenbocks staty

Magnus Stenbocks staty is a bronze equestrian statue located in Stortorget that depicts the Field Marshal mounted on horseback with his gaze directed across the central square. Created by sculptor John Börjeson, the figure wears military dress and commands the plaza from its position.

The statue was created in 1901 by artist John Börjeson to honor Magnus Stenbock, a Swedish Field Marshal who led a major military victory in 1710. The monument was later moved in 1959 to make room for modern traffic flow in the city center.

The statue shows Magnus Stenbock on horseback and reflects a period when Sweden honored military leaders through grand bronze sculptures in central squares. Today it is a place where people gather and connect with the city's past.

The statue is located on Stortorget, Helsingborg's main square, and is easily reached on foot. Visitors can access the plaza during the day, and the surrounding area has cafes and shops nearby for a break.

Each year local students perform a special ritual by walking around the statue seven times to celebrate completing their studies. This has become a traditional ceremony that many visitors can observe during graduation season.
