Novena

Novena is a planning area in the Central Region comprising five subzones: Malcolm, Balestier, Mount Pleasant, Moulmein, and Dunearn, located between Toa Payoh and Bukit Timah. The zone blends residential neighborhoods with commercial centers and healthcare facilities, with access provided by Novena MRT station and numerous bus routes.

The name derives from devotions to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, a Catholic origin that shaped the area's early identity. Tan Tock Seng Hospital, founded in 1844, ranks among Singapore's oldest medical institutions and influenced how healthcare developed across the region.

The Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall houses over 400 artifacts documenting connections between Southeast Asia and China during a pivotal period. The space reflects how this historical moment remains embedded in the local identity today.

Novena MRT station provides direct access to the area and sits just one stop from Orchard Road shopping district. Multiple bus routes run through the zone, making it easy to get around on foot or by public transport.

Velocity at Novena Square is Singapore's first shopping center dedicated entirely to sports and active living, housing over 160 specialized stores across three levels.
