Shaw House and Centre

Shaw House and Centre spans two connected buildings at the corner of Orchard Road and Scotts Road, with retail stores spread across multiple floors. The complex combines shops, a cinema with IMAX screens, a Japanese supermarket, and medical offices all within one site.

The complex began in 1958, with Shaw Centre completed in 1972 as a 28-story building that was then Singapore's tallest structure. The two buildings were developed at different times to meet growing shopping demand in the Orchard district.

The center houses a Japanese supermarket with tasting stations and several international restaurants that show how Singapore's residents embrace products and flavors from many countries. Walking through, you notice how these shops and dining spots bring together people seeking everyday items and meals from home.

The site is easily accessible from multiple entrances, giving visitors different routes through the buildings. Plan time to browse shops, eat at restaurants, and possibly catch a movie, since all facilities are concentrated in one location.

A bell clock tower stands at the front entrance, given as a gift to Singapore from Shaw Organisation and Swiss timepiece manufacturers. The monument is a quiet symbol of generosity and collaboration between local and international partners.
