Prule Bridge, Bridge in Trnovo district, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Prule Bridge is a modern structure crossing the Ljubljanica River with a wide platform paved in distinctive red brick. Two supporting columns carry the span, and semicircular railings line both sides.
A wooden bridge previously stood at this location, relocated here in 1918 from elsewhere in Ljubljana. The present crossing replaced it in 1993 as a balance between traffic demands and local preferences.
The name refers to an old ferry crossing that once served the area, and the bridge now links two neighborhoods that grew closer after its completion. It functions as a daily passage for residents moving between Prule and Trnovo.
The crossing is easily walkable with wide paths suited for both pedestrians and cyclists, featuring modern infrastructure on all sides. The river flows gently here, making the passage straightforward and accessible for everyone.
Three poplar trees were planted on the left bank by architect Jozse Plecnik to enhance the visual impact of the structure. These trees form part of a broader urban design vision that weaves nature into the crossing.
