Omkoi

Omkoi is an administrative district in southwestern Chiang Mai, characterized by mountainous terrain spread across six sub-districts. The area comprises numerous villages scattered throughout the landscape, each serving as a local community center.

The area was initially established in 1929 as a minor subdivision of Hot district. It gained full district status in 1958.

The area is home to Karen communities who continue traditional farming methods and local customs that shape daily life across the settlements. Their practices remain visible in how families work the land and celebrate seasonal events together.

The district is accessible by public buses and private vehicles from Chiang Mai city. Local markets operate regularly, selling fresh produce and regional goods that visitors can explore.
