Kaeng Tana National Park, National park in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand
Kaeng Tana National Park is a protected area in Ubon Ratchathani with forests, river rapids, and bridges along the Mun. Deciduous woodland covers the plateau and hill terrain, while the river forms the core with its natural rapids and narrow canyons.
The park was founded in 1981 as the country's 31st national park. Stone carvings and religious symbols from the 7th century show that people have lived here for over a thousand years.
The Tham Phra cave holds objects from ancient times that show how people once lived and worshipped in this region. Today visitors can see these remains and understand the spiritual life that once flourished here.
The park is easy to reach by car, and basic accommodation is available near the entrance for overnight stays. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear since some trails are steep and can be slippery, especially during wet seasons.
Don Tana island divides the river into two channels and is connected to the mainland by long suspension bridges. Crossing these bridges offers spectacular views of the rapids and surrounding woodland as you walk above the flowing water.
