Wat Rat Prakhong Tham

Wat Rat Prakhong Tham is a Buddhist temple in Sao Thong Hin featuring prayer halls with traditional Thai architecture, detailed carvings, and sculptures throughout the grounds. The main attraction is a 40-meter (131 feet) reclining Buddha statue housed under a large pavilion, with an adjoining shrine building beside it.

The temple houses an ancient Buddha statue in the U-Thong style called Luang Po To Sampokong, which is several centuries old and stands two meters tall. This sacred image has been venerated at the site for generations and remains central to the temple's spiritual life.

The pavilion roof displays copies of important Buddhist stupas from other regions, connecting this place to sacred sites across the country. Visitors can see how these architectural details reflect the broader religious landscape of Thailand.

The temple sits beside the Om Non canal in Nonthaburi province and is easy to reach for visitors. Daylight hours are best for exploring the grounds, observing ceremonies, or spending time in quiet reflection at the site.

Standing behind the massive reclining Buddha is a monumental statue of a monk, an unusual pairing rarely seen at other temple sites. This combination of both figures creates a distinctive visual experience that sets this place apart from other religious buildings.
