Na Nirand Romantic Boutique Resort is a 5-star hotel on Charoen Prathet Road in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, situated along the Ping River. The property consists of six houses built in the Lanna-Colonial style, featuring carved woodwork, tiled roofs, and white columns.
During the reign of King Rama V, the area around the resort became a hub for forestry in the Chiang Mai region. One of the houses on the grounds, known as Baan Thab Phaya, once belonged to a woman of Lamphun royalty and a man from Bangkok, whose story is still told on the property today.
The resort grounds include a rain tree planted over 100 years ago by H. Slade, the first person appointed to oversee forestry in the region. The tree still stands in the garden and gives the property a quiet sense of continuity with its past.
The hotel sits along the Ping River and some rooms face the water directly, so it is worth requesting a riverside room when booking. The location on Charoen Prathet Road puts many temples, markets, and local restaurants within easy walking distance.
The resort has a rooftop glasshouse bar where guests can look out over the rooftops of Chiang Mai in one direction and the Ping River in another. This spot sits directly above the garden and the old rain tree, making the contrast between the city skyline and the greenery below striking.
