Sandimen Township, Mountain indigenous township in Pingtung County, Taiwan.
Sandimen Township is a mountain region in Pingtung County covering around 196 square kilometers across ten villages set in hilly terrain. The landscape rises to about 710 meters elevation, with valleys and ridges forming the natural structure throughout the area.
The name comes from the Paiwan language and was called Sanchimon during Japanese rule before being renamed. The current official name was established in 1992.
The Paiwan people form the main population here and keep their traditions alive through crafts and community life. You can see their way of living reflected in local art and how people gather together in daily activities.
You can reach this area through roads connecting to larger towns in Pingtung County, and regular bus services run to different villages. Getting around the mountains works best by planning travel times in advance due to the hilly terrain.
A glass suspension bridge called Shanchuan connects different parts of this area and allows visitors to see the surrounding valleys below. The bridge has become a popular spot where people can experience the mountain landscape in an unusual way.
