Shanchuan Glass Suspension Bridge

The Shanchuan Glass Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian and cycling bridge spanning 262 meters between two townships in Pingtung County. Its transparent walkway sections allow people to see through to the landscape below as they cross.

The bridge opened in 2016 as Taiwan's first large-scale pedestrian crossing with an extensive glass floor design. It represented an important step in the country's modern infrastructure development at that time.

The bridge serves local communities as a daily crossing point between two townships with deep roots in the area. Walking across reveals how the surrounding landscape has been shaped by those who live here.

The bridge is accessible by bus from Chiayi Station, with stops near the area. Good weather improves the experience since visibility through the glass floor is clearer on sunny days.

Some glass panels on the bridge are intentionally marked with colored sections to reduce the feeling of extreme height for visitors. These markings help nervous visitors feel more confident while crossing.
