涼山瀑布, Natural waterfall in Pingtung County, Taiwan
Liangshan is a waterfall in Pingtung County, Taiwan, formed by three cascades that follow the course of the Niujiaowan Stream down a forested slope. Each cascade flows over moss-covered rock and empties into a natural pool before the water continues its descent.
Indigenous communities have lived in this area for generations, relying on the stream as a source of fresh water for everyday use. The site stayed central to local life long before it became known as a hiking destination.
a reference to the cooler air that rises from the water spray and the thick tree cover overhead. Visitors notice the drop in temperature well before they reach the falls themselves.
The trail covers several kilometers of uneven ground, so shoes with a firm grip are important, especially near the water where rocks get slippery after rain. Starting in the morning gives you better light and avoids the midday heat on the way back.
The middle of the three cascades forms a natural pool deep enough for swimming, which hikers often use as a rest stop before continuing to the top. This pool sits roughly halfway along the ascent, making it a natural meeting point on the trail.
