Zalizna Voda Park, Protected natural area in Lviv, Ukraine.
Zalizna Voda Park is a protected natural area in Lviv covering approximately 20 hectares across rolling hills with a network of winding paths. The grounds feature a diverse mix of beech, pine, larch, and oak trees that create a leafy woodland setting.
The park was established in 1894, transforming a popular recreation spot into a formal public space designed by horticulturist Arnold Röhring. The area had attracted visitors since the 1830s due to its natural iron-rich springs.
During the Biedermeier Period, the park grounds hosted summer theater performances by Franz Kratter's German troupe, establishing it as a cultural gathering space.
The park can be accessed from several entrances along Stus, Mushaka, and Myshuhy Streets, making it easy to reach from different parts of Lviv. Well-maintained paths throughout the grounds allow visitors to explore at their own pace and choose different routes.
The park's name comes from the high iron content of its natural springs, which have drawn local residents for generations. Many visitors today do not realize that these mineral-rich waters were the original reason people came to this location.
