Kholodnyi Yar National Nature Park

Kholodnyi Yar is a national park in the Cherkasy region covering 7000 hectares of hilly terrain carved by deep ravines and dense oak forests. These woodlands cover approximately 95 percent of the park's total area and define its overall landscape character.

Archaeological evidence reveals that people inhabited this area during the Trypillian culture 5000 years ago. These early settlements demonstrate a long history of human presence within this region.

The Motroninsky Monastery serves as a spiritual gathering place where people come to pray and spend time in this sacred setting. The monastery functions as a focal point for religious observances and community gatherings throughout the year.

Exploration of the park typically begins from the village of Melnyk, which provides access to several hiking trails through the forested areas. Visitors should prepare for varying trail conditions since the hilly terrain and ravines offer different levels of difficulty.

Thousands of snowdrops carpet the forest floor in white during March, marking the beginning of spring in this protected area. This natural display attracts visitors who time their visits to witness this seasonal transformation.
