New Brighton Tower, Observation tower in New Brighton, England.
New Brighton Tower was an iron lattice observation tower positioned on the seafront promenade that offered visitors views across the coast. The structure contained an observation platform at height plus a spacious ballroom inside along with various entertainment rooms.
The structure was completed in 1898 and opened to the public in 1900, briefly becoming the tallest building in Great Britain. The tower itself was dismantled in 1921, but the ballroom facilities continued operating until a fire destroyed the building in 1969.
The ballroom drew visitors who enjoyed live music and dance events that shaped the city's evening entertainment scene. The stage hosted notable performers that attracted people from across the region.
The tower and buildings no longer exist, but the foundations are still visible and now serve as a meeting point for football enthusiasts in the area. Visitors can reach the site on foot from the seafront promenade and see how the former structures have been repurposed into current land use.
Although the original structure was destroyed, the foundation base survived and was given new purpose. Today the site functions as a sports ground where local football matches are held.
