St Agnes

St Agnes is a coastal village along Cornwall's northern coast with several beaches, steep cliffs, and walking trails. These paths offer views across the Celtic Sea and the surrounding countryside.

The village grew during the 18th and 19th centuries as a major mining center, with copper and tin mines operating across the surrounding landscape. This mining activity shaped how the settlement developed and looked.

The Stippy-Stappy terrace of workers' cottages from the 1800s shows how closely the village was tied to the sea and maritime life. Walking past these tightly packed homes, you can sense the community that once worked together in fishing and shipping.

Free parking throughout the village makes it easy to explore local shops, restaurants, and beaches at your own pace. Most areas are walkable, so you can leave your car and stroll around to get a feel for the place.

At Wheal Coates mine, you can hear ocean waves rushing through a floor grate during high tide. At low tide, the mine shaft becomes reachable from Chapel Porth Beach, creating a rare experience where old mining and the sea meet.
