Selhurst Park, Football stadium in South Norwood, England.
Selhurst Park is an association football venue in South Norwood, south London, featuring four stands with red and blue seating. The Main Stand runs along the western side, while the Arthur Wait Stand, Whitehorse Lane Stand and Holmesdale Road Stand surround the pitch, offering spectators close views of the action.
Archibald Leitch designed the ground in 1924, initially creating one stand with space for around 25,000 visitors. Over the following decades the ground underwent several rebuilds, with new stands added and capacity adjusted to meet modern safety standards.
The Holmesdale Road Stand takes its name from the street running along the southern side and houses the most vocal supporters during home matches. Fans there sing together and wave flags, creating a lively atmosphere typical of London stadiums of this size.
Selhurst Station lies around 300 meters away and offers regular trains into central London, making it easy to reach on match days. Arriving early lets visitors find pubs and food outlets on surrounding streets, where fans gather before kickoff.
Between 1985 and 1991 both Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic played their home matches here, which was a rare arrangement in English football at the time. This period meant fans of both clubs shared the ground and filled the stands together.
