Hestercombe Gardens, Grade I listed garden in West Monkton, England
The gardens spread across 50 acres of Somerset countryside, featuring formal hedges, extensive flower beds, lakes, cascades, and woodland paths.
The estate originated in the 16th century under Richard Warre and underwent substantial transformation in 1904 when Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll designed new sections.
Garden designer Gertrude Jekyll incorporated specific planting arrangements that influenced modern English garden design through her collaboration with architect Edwin Lutyens.
The gardens remain open daily from 10:00 to 17:30, offering visitors access to walking paths, a cafe, a gift shop, and designated parking areas.
Three distinct garden styles from different periods merge at Hestercombe: Georgian landscapes, Victorian terraces, and Edwardian formal gardens.
