Church of St Mary, Kingston St Mary, Medieval church in Kingston St Mary, England
Church of St Mary in Kingston St Mary is a stone building with a central tower featuring ornate battlements. The structure extends eastward with a north aisle and a substantial chancel.
Construction began in the early 1200s but the building received major changes during the 1400s. Perpendicular-style windows were added during that period, and the tower underwent significant improvements.
The carved bench ends display religious motifs that show how much craftsmanship mattered to the community. These details reflect the devotion people felt toward their faith and local traditions.
The site is accessible for visits at various times, with regular Sunday services and open access for visitors during the week. A village square with parking nearby makes arrival and orientation straightforward.
The tower holds eight bells, two of which date from 1607 and are among the oldest still-ringing church bells in the county. These historic bells continue to sound for special occasions.
