Walton-on-Thames is a town on the south bank of the Thames in Elmbridge, southwest of London. The retail complex known as The Heart forms the commercial core, surrounded by residential neighborhoods and smaller shops along the main streets.
The settlement appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Waletona, containing six hides of land, two mills, and a fishery. Over the centuries the place grew into a residential town near London.
