Kilclief Castle, Medieval tower-house at Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland
The four-story castle incorporates two projecting turrets, with one containing a spiral staircase and another housing latrines accessible from three levels.
Built between 1413 and 1441, Kilclief Castle represents the earliest dated tower-house in County Down and served as a model for other regional fortifications.
Bishop John Sely lost his position in 1443 after the church discovered he resided in the castle with Lettice Whailey Savage against religious regulations.
Visitors can explore the castle through guided tours during July and August, with access to multiple floors connected by stone staircases.
A thirteenth-century coffin lid from a nearby church functions as a repurposed lintel above the second-floor fireplace of the castle.
