Theatr Clwyd, Arts centre and Grade II listed theatre in Mold, Wales, GB.
Theatr Clwyd is an arts centre and theatre in Mold, a small market town in North Wales. It houses several performance spaces of different sizes, along with a cinema screen, all within a single building.
The building opened in 1976 as part of a civic development that also brought county administration offices to Mold. Over the following decades it was renovated and expanded to keep pace with a growing audience and wider programming.
Theatr Clwyd is one of the few venues in North Wales where Welsh-language productions regularly appear on stage. Audiences travel from across the region to attend, which gives evenings there a strong sense of community.
The building sits in the centre of Mold and is easy to reach on foot from the main square. It is worth checking what is on before you visit, since the cinema and theatre spaces run on different schedules.
Theatr Clwyd also runs a second venue in Rhyl, a coastal town further north, and produces its own shows there. Some of those productions then tour across the UK, reaching audiences far beyond North Wales.
