The Beatles Story, Music museum at Royal Albert Dock, Liverpool, England
The Beatles Story is a music museum at Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool, England, dedicated to the rise of the namesake band. The exhibition includes recreated versions of The Casbah Coffee Club, The Cavern Club, and Abbey Road Studios across several rooms.
Mike and Bernadette Byrne developed the concept for this museum, which opened its doors on May 1, 1990. The founders wanted to preserve the musical legacy of the band for future generations and make it accessible to the public.
Exhibition rooms display original items like Lennon's spectacles and Harrison's first guitar, documenting the rise of British pop music in the United States. Visitors walk through recreated spaces where the band held their earliest performances and made their first recordings.
The museum offers wheelchair access and stands close to Liverpool One bus station and Liverpool James Street railway station. Visitors can walk through the exhibition at their own pace and learn more about individual songs at different listening points.
The collection holds a hip flask that John Lennon received from Stuart Sutcliffe, which visitors can view in a display case. The last guitar George Harrison played at the Cavern Club also stands in the exhibition rooms and shows traces of years of use.
