Llangernyw Yew, Ancient yew tree in Llangernyw, Wales

The trunk of this ancient yew tree measures 10.75 meters in circumference and consists of multiple large fragments growing from the original root system.

Scientific analysis indicates the tree germinated between 4,000 and 5,000 years ago during the Bronze Age, preceding the construction of St Digain's Church by several millennia.

The Tree Council selected this specimen as one of the Fifty Great British Trees during Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002.

The yew stands in St Digain's churchyard, where visitors can observe its multiple trunks and examine the informative plaque detailing its estimated age.

Two standing stones with primitive crosses etched into their surface rest near the tree, connecting ancient pagan traditions with early Christian practices.
